Tarren cross

A golden byzantine cross bought by Maelgwyn ap Ceiwyn in 484. The first item of the Tarren Regalia.

Notable features

The cross is delicately decorated with images of the four Apostles and the Son. Although it is traditionally worn as a necklace its weight and size makes it impractical to wear for any extended time.

The cross was, judging by the style and craftmanship, made somewhere in the byzantine empire but much of its history is shrouded in mystery. It was acquired by Maelgwyn from a merchant in Sarum who promised it was indeed a genuine cross from the holy lands.

484: Bought and worn by Maelgwyn.
