Tathal died in 486 during The Redcap and the Bailiff. His great uncle took over the role as Bailiff in the hundred.

Tathal is the cousin to the new Sheriff of Salisbury and Gentian, and himself a bailff of the hundred Hillfort. Tathal is proud of his relation to the new Sheriff, and often talks about how important blood bounds are. His cousin, the Sheriff, is however not as impressed by his low-born cousin.
